Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), on Thursday, alleged that Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma has said undemocratic things about the police administration and he has levelled baseless allegation on Jharkhand Police. The Party said that it is hardly possible to find an example in history that a head of a State or a responsible person accuses the police department of another State.
Addressing a press meet JMM General Secretary cum Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that an incident took place in Assam two years ago, Biswa was the CM at that time too. “At that time, Assam Police had a dispute with Manipur Police. There was even a situation of firing from both sides. Both started arresting each other's personnel. Assam started this kind of confrontation between the two police departments,” he added.
Bhattacharya said that under the constitutional provisions, if a CM or Minister goes to another State, then its complete details are prepared. “When and for how long is the minister's program at which place, all this is shared among the departments. Then security arrangements are made accordingly. When the CM of a State goes somewhere, the first information is given to the Secretary of the Governor of that State. If a Minister travels, the principal secretary of the CM of that State is informed about it first. Along with this, the top officials of the police department are also informed. Special branch police is also included in this. The police personnel provided by the special branch for the security of the Minister are in plain clothes. All this happens under a protocol. This happens all over the Country. Under this protocol, ministers or other related persons are given security,” he added.
The JMM leader said that yesterday there was a discussion in the State that the Hemant Government is spying on Champai Soren. “Such an allegation was made by the BJP in a press conference. Till yesterday Champai Soren was in his post as a minister. He is also the former Chief Minister of the State. When he went to Delhi, security was provided according to this status and protocol. According to the protocol, information about Champai's program and visit to Delhi was also given to the concerned State and officials in advance. Biswa Sarma must have been aware of this,” he added.
Bhattacharya said that this is the first such incident in the Country. “No amount of condemnation is enough. It is also worth looking at separately that the CM of another state is made the election in-charge of another State. Then this CM sends the security machinery provided by his state to another state. Only BJP can do this,” he added.
