In a tragic incident in Vikram Nagar, Morena, a 45-year-old retired army personnel, Devendra Singh, shot and killed his wife, Madhuri (43), before taking his own life. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Tuesday. Singh also attempted to harm his two teenage sons, Saurabh (15) and Gaurav (17), who managed to escape after a struggle. The motive behind the killings and suicide remains unclear.
According to initial investigations, Devendra Singh had a heated argument with his wife before the incident. He reportedly woke his sons at gunpoint, who found their mother unconscious. The boys managed to push their father away and flee. Shortly after, they heard a gunshot and returned to find their father lying lifeless on the ground.
Madhuri was critically injured and rushed to a nearby hospital by neighbors, where she was referred to Gwalior for treatment but succumbed to her injuries. Devendra Singh died on the spot.
Police and forensic teams are investigating the case. CSP Vijay Bhadauria stated that Devendra and his family lived in a two-story house and owned two plots in Vikram Nagar. He had retired from the Indian Army five years ago and was working as a security guard at a warehouse in Dholpur.
The sons revealed that their father had a habit of taking sleeping pills, and samples are being tested as part of the investigation. The exact cause of the violent outburst is yet to be determined.
