An event dedicated to the life and works of noted Urdu poet Shabbir Shah Aasi was organised by the Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy, Culture Council, and Culture Department on Sunday.The event, held at the Anjuman Higher Secondary School in Khargone, included discussions and recitations of the poet's works, with the support of district coordinator Qayam Uddin Qayam.

This initiative is part of a series held in every district of Madhya Pradesh by the Urdu Academy.Highlighting the need for similar events, Dr. Nusrat Mehdi, Director of the Urdu Academy, said that the aim of the intellectual and poetic gatherings is to promote Urdu literature and culture, as well as to inspire and provide a platform for new writers and poets.

The Khargone gathering is dedicated to Shabbir Shah Aasi, who is regarded as one of Khargone's foremost master poets. The purpose of the event is to bring his life and work to the public, she said.District coordinator Qayam Uddin Qayam, who was instrumental in organising the event, informed that the discussion and poetry reading were chaired by senior Khargone literary figure Rakesh Rana, while Sarfaraz Bhartiya (Jhabua), Asif Fateh, social worker Amjad Pahlawan, and Dard Shujalpuri were special guests on the occasion.

The event commenced with Dr. Akbar Ali, a senior literary figure from Khargone, paying tribute to Aasi and shedding light on his personality and contributions.

Ali said that Aasi’s poetry reflects the events of everyday life, focusing on the issues faced by ordinary people and common social concerns. The main themes of his poetry revolve around love, pain, and human experiences, with a notable aspect being his love for nature and its depiction.

Several notable poets presented their work by reciting at the event, which was conducted by Qayam.
