Doctors from all over the country protest against rape, murder of trainee doctor in Kokata

After Delhi, doctors across the country have started protesting against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. All the doctors of Hamidia Hospital worked with a black band tied on their hands to register their protest.

Earlier half-naked body of a trainee doctor was found late night on August 8in RG Kar Medical College Hospital, Kolkata.

According to the police, she was murdered after rape. Blood was flowing from her private part, eyes and mouth. Her neck bone was also found broken.

Junior Doctor Association (JUDA) spokesperson Kuldeep Gupta said that all the junior doctors of Gandhi Medical College Bhopal worked wearing black bands on Monday in protest against the unpleasant incident at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. A candle march will be held today at 7 pm for the peace of the departed soul, followed by a tribute meeting at 7:30 pm.

Today, 3 lakh resident doctors across the country are on strike over the incident. OPD services have been affected in all government hospitals across the country, including AIIMS Delhi. Emergency services have been kept running.

Dr. Sarvesh Pandey, General Secretary of All India Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) said - We have demanded from the Health Secretary to get the incident investigated by CBI and to make a Central Protection Act for the safety of doctors. We will continue the strike until we get a written assurance.
