CS holds high level review meeting ahead of Durga Puja

A meeting was organized today through video conferencing with all the Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners of all the districts and Superintendents of Police under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary L Khiangte. The Chief Secretary gave necessary guidelines to the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts to celebrate the upcoming Durga Puja festival in an atmosphere of mutual brotherhood and goodwill.

 

The CS said that this festival of Durga Puja should be celebrated with mutual coordination and brotherhood, ensuring all preparations in this regard. Directing all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police, he said that the meeting of the Peace Committee should be ensured at the police station level so that the cooperation of local enlightened people and dignitaries can be obtained in conducting the festival in a peaceful environment. He said that the control rooms of all the districts should be kept active in 24x7 mode. Depute sufficient number of magistrates and police officers so that prompt action can be taken to deal with any unexpected situation.

 

He directed to ensure adequate arrangements for CCTV through Puja committees in all Puja pandals so that strict vigil can be kept on anti-social elements. He directed all Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to do physical verification of all Puja pandals and route lines. Along with this, he directed to keep adequate number of fire tenders available at appropriate places in all Puja pandals. He also said that to use it, provide necessary training to the personnel with the help of the fire department so that they can be used when needed.

 

The Chief Secretary directed all Deputy Commissioners and SPs to ensure that adequate number of volunteers are deployed in all Puja pandals with the help of the organizers of the Puja committee. He further directed that all volunteers should be provided with T-shirts and caps using colour coding as per their work responsibilities so that their clear identification can be ensured.

 

In the context of traffic system, the Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners and Police Captains of all the districts to keep the traffic system completely tight and in order to make the upcoming festival smooth for all the devotees. Also make the communication plan better so that any kind of emergency can be dealt with.

 

The Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts to caution people by putting up signage in deep ponds or rivers during idol immersion so that no untoward incident occurs.

 

Playing DJ will be banned. An order was given to completely ban DJ during the meeting.

 

Principal Secretary Vandana Dadel, DGP Anurag Gupta and other officers were present in the meeting.
