Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar today conducted a surprise inspection of polling booth number 288 and 289 located at Saint Robert Girls High School in Hazaribagh. He asked the BLOs involved in the election work at the polling stations to discuss the resources available there and the formation and activities of the polling station awareness group, arrangements for volunteers at the polling stations, to make the election process easier for general voters, women, disabled and senior voters. Assessed the arrangements and preparations made. He made efforts to sensitize voters and bring awareness about ethical voting, easy voting process for voters unable to reach polling stations, inclusion in the electoral list.
After receiving information about the action taken regarding removal of names of absent, displaced and deceased (ASD) people, necessary instructions were given.
During the inspection, he expressed dissatisfaction over the shortcomings caused by the lack of information of some BLOs and said that the concerned officials should be satisfied about the preparations at their level in relation to each polling station. The Chief Electoral Officer also directed the BLOs to be reoriented at the block/zone level.
After the site inspection of the polling stations, the Chief Electoral Officer held a meeting with the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Election Officer, Electoral Registration Officer and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer in the Collectorate Auditorium to monitor the work of BLOs and ensure minimum facilities at the polling stations. He said that the officials should verify the polling stations and assess the minimum facilities and remove the shortcomings as soon as possible.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora, North Chotanagpur Division Commissioner Suman Catherine Kispotta, Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay and other officials were present in the meeting.
