In a significant move towards promoting environmental sustainability, Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) has started providing eco-friendly electric vehicles (EVs) to its senior officials for daily use. On August 8, in a ceremony held at the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) building premises, Director-in-Charge Birendra Kumar Tiwari handed over the keys to the electric cars to seven senior Chief General Managers. The event was attended by Executive Directors, Chief General Managers, and other senior officers of BSL.

Alongside providing the electric vehicles, BSL is also establishing electric charging stations both inside and outside the plant premises. These electric vehicles are not only environmentally friendly but also silent, convenient to use, and equipped with the latest technology. BSL has ordered a total of 65 Tata Nexon (EV) vehicles, which will be delivered in phases.

Speaking on the occasion, Birendra Kumar Tiwari stated that this initiative is a crucial part of Bokaro Steel Plant's decarbonization roadmap and its efforts to reduce carbon emissions, which will yield long-term positive outcomes.

The successful organization of the event was significantly supported by General Manager (Liaison & Administration)  CRK Sudhanshu, Assistant General Manager Shashank Shekhar, and their team.

It is noteworthy that Bokaro Steel Plant is undertaking several innovative initiatives aimed at environmental conservation, including the production of green steel through decarbonization and the recycling of waste materials under the concept of a circular economy.
