Kathy Giles-Diaz assumes Charge as US Consul General in Kolkata

Kathy Giles-Diaz officially assumed the role of U.S. Consul General in Kolkata, effective August 21, 2024.  She takes over from Melinda Pavek, the outgoing Consul General, who departed on August 18, 2024. In her capacity as Consul General, Giles-Diaz will oversee U.S. diplomatic efforts and foster U.S.-India relations across the Kolkata Consular District, which covers West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, and the seven northeastern states of India.  

Bajaj Allianz Life cements growth

Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, one of India's leading private life insurers, witnessed a strong Q1FY25 on the back of healthy growth of all its distribution channels. This led to the Company's Individual Rated New Business (IRNB) growing 26% and reaching Rs1,294 crores as compared to Q1FY24 when it stood at Rs 1,028 crores. Bajaj Allianz Life continues to make strategic investments across its distribution channels to ensure it is present for its customers, across the country, and enable their Life Goals in a seamless manner. For the quarter its business channels Agency, Institutional Business and Proprietary Sales Force fuelled its growth by posting IRNB growth of 15%, 27% and 75%, respectively (as compared to Q1FY24).

OLIC meeting held at Station

The third quarterly meeting of Ranchi Station Official Language Implementation Committee was held under the chairmanship of Station Manager Raj Kumar Gupta from 11 am. In this official language meeting, the status of implementation of Official Language Acts and Rules at Ranchi Railway Station was discussed. Senior Official Language Officer of Ranchi Railway Division, Sunil Kumar Sinha, Ashutosh Kumar Chief Health Inspector, Yogendra Kumar ASI, Sanjay Prasad, HC Niraj Kumar, CCI, Sujit Kumar SSE (Works), B Rajeshwar Rao Chief Commercial Supervisor and in-charge of all supervisory units were present in the meeting.

Dr SK Das – a globe trotter and collector 

Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Das alias Bob Das a renowned oncologist is a well-known globe trotter. He was inspired to travel places around the world from lectures of school teachers. His mission for globe-trotting is collection of cute dolls apart from entertainment. Each doll collected from various countries has its unique characteristics and the dress resembled the country. By keeping the dolls in his house he feels that he is in the midst of those countries. Collecting currencies and souvenirs from different parts of the world which resembled each country’s landmark is also imbibed in him. Through the collection he wants to show the different cultures of the country to the masses.
