Hry Cabinet meeting on August 17
Chandigarh: Haryana Cabinet meeting will be held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on August 17 (Saturday) at 10:00 AM. The meeting was earlier scheduled for August 17. After the change in time, the Cabinet meeting will now take place in the Main Committee Room, Fourth Floor, Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, an official spokesperson said on Wednesday.
13 Hry Police officers honoured with medals on Independence Day
Chandigarh: On the occasion of Independence Day 2024, as many as 13 officers and personnel of the Haryana Police have been honoured with the President's Police Medal (PPMDS) and the Police Medal (PMMS) for their outstanding and meritorious services. The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the list of recipients. Among them, one officer from the Haryana Police has been awarded the prestigious President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while 12 other officers and personnel have been honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Vikas Kumar Arora, Police Commissioner of Gurugram, has been awarded the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in recognition of his exemplary contributions to law enforcement. The honorees include Deepak Saharan, Superintendent of Police; Kamal Deep Goyal, Assistant Inspector General of Police and others.
Haryana Rajya Sabha By-Election on Sept 3
Chandigarh: Returning Officer for the Rajya Sabha by-election 2024 Saket Kumar on Wednesday said that the schedule for the by-election for a Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana has been announced. The nominations can be submitted by any candidate on any working day, except holidays, at the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat in Sector-1, Chandigarh, between 11 am and 3 pm until August 21. He further shared that the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on August 22 at 10 a.m. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until August 27. If necessary, voting will be held on September 3 at the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat from 9 am to 4 pm, he added.
HSSC to conduct written examination for Group 56 and 57 posts on Aug 17, 18
Chandigarh: Haryana Staff Selection Commission Chairman Himmat Singh said that the Commission will conduct written examinations for Group-56 and Group-57 posts on August 17 and 18. He stated that examination centers have been established in six districts namely Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, and Panipat. About 45,000 candidates will appear for the examination. He said that the Commission is committed to ensure that all recruitments are conducted with transparency and fairness. Himmat Singh said that a meeting with the nodal officers of the police and district administration from all six districts has been scheduled for August 16 at the Haryana Staff Selection Commission office in Sector 2, Panchkula.
MC Chandigarh issues guidelines for proper disposal of National flags
Chandigarh: To ensure proper disposal of the damaged/torn National flag under the central government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has set up collection centres in all its community centres throughout the city, where citizens can deposit damaged or torn National flag, if any. The collection centres shall be operational till August 21. MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra directed all the concerned officers and officials that in case any National flag is found soiled, distorted and damaged, it should be deposited in the nearby Community centre. Thereafter, soiled, distorted, damaged or broken National flag would be disposed of as per the directions issued by the Ministery of Home Affairs under Flag Code of India 2002 under Section-V (misuse) and in terms of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 (as amended).
52 flat owners booked for not informing police about foreigners' stay in Gurugram
Gurugram: Ahead of Independence Day, the Gurugram Police filed a case against 52 flat owners of a residential society who accommodated over 50 foreign nationals in their flats without informing the police and without the necessary documentation, officials said on Wednesday. According to officials, a Bhondsi Police Station team was checking hotels, guest houses, and various societies under its jurisdiction on Tuesday in view of the security for Independence Day and compliance with the instructions issued by the district administration. At the Central Park Society located on Sohna Road, the team, upon checking the records, found that over 50 foreign nationals were staying in 52 flats without informing the police and filling the mandatory C-form. Following this, a case was registered against the flat owners under the relevant sections of the Foreigners Act. "We appeal to the people that if any foreign national stays in their hotel, house, guest house, or flats, then inform the police about it and fill the C form," said Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar.
