BJP, Congress Govts did nothing for people of Haryana: Pb CM Mann
Sonipat: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday asked the people of Haryana to vote for the AAP in the coming assembly polls as he accused the BJP and the Congress of "filling their own pockets" during their respective regimes and doing "nothing" for the people of the state. The Haryana Assembly polls are due later this year and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced that it will contest all the 90 seats in the state. The AAP has contested several polls in Haryana, but it has yet to taste electoral success.
Himachal Urban Dev minister calls for mesh of electric cables in Shimla to be fixed
Shimla: Taking a stern view of a mesh of wires on electricity poles in many areas under the Shimla Municipal Corporation, Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Monday instructed electricity board officials to fix it immediately and submit a report on it within a week. Singh, who reviewed various developmental projects under construction in Shimla city in a meeting with officials of the civic body and the urban development department, said that the mesh of wires is affecting the beauty of the town and poses a danger to the lives of the citizens. The Himachal Pradesh minister sought detailed information about various developmental projects being implemented under the Smart City project in areas under the municipal corporation and instructed the officials to complete pending works within a time frame. The minister asked all councilors to identify suitable places for construction of parking lots in their wards and send proposals to the department. He also instructed that construction of parking lots, bridges, and lifts in the town be completed and the damaged retaining wall near the Ridge Shimla be repaired without delay.
Kapurthala MLA raises concern over National highway projects in Pb
Kapurthala: Raising concern over a communication from Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari issuing a warning to Punjab government to cancel/terminate eight highway projects, MLA Kapurthala Rana Gurjeet Singh said that it is a serious matter and the Punjab government should deal it with utmost urgency and diligence. He appealed to Gadkari and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to treat the matter with compassion and bring it to a conclusive end to the benefit of farmers and the state of Punjab. "It is not a law and order problem, the real issue is that the farmers were not paid adequate compensation for the agricultural land acquired for the highway projects and the inadequacy has led to unrest", said Rana Gurjeet. He asked the state government to resolve the matter by resolving the issue of low compensation to farmers. Eight national highways with a total length of 293 kilometers with a total cost of Rs 14288 crore are under construction in the state.
Hry will be first State in Country to implement NEP: Governor Dattatraya
Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya on Monday said that the New Education Policy (NEP) will prove to be a game-changer for the Indian education system. The scope of the NEP 2020 is vast and flexible, aiming to provide world-class quality and employment-oriented education to the youth within a set time frame. He expressed confidence that Haryana will have the honour of being the first state in the country to fully implement the NEP. Addressing Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of State Universities on the first day of a two-day review meeting at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh, the Governor said that education is an investment that secures the future of society and individuals. The meeting discussed serious matters such as the swift implementation of the NEP across the state, ensuring transparent and merit-based recruitment against regular positions in universities, and the adoption of two villages by each university under the ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’, the Governor added.
MC Chandigarh organizes ‘Tiranga Yatra’
Chandigarh: A ‘Tiranga Yatra’ with approximately 1000 members of city level Self Help Groups and officials of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh took place in the beautiful city on Monday. The ‘Tiranga’ rally led by MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra, was observed to foster Nationalism and love for the country. The initiative was marked as a part of the Government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The event started at the central plaza, sector 17 and other markets of city. The participants marched towards the sector 22 market and the rally terminated with a return march to the MC office building, sector 17.
