Kuldeep Kumar assumes charge as Chandigarh mayor
Chandigarh: Kuldeep Kumar on Wednesday assumed charge as Chandigarh mayor at the Municipal Corporation office. The AAP leader was welcomed with beats of dhol. All senior AAP and Congress leaders including former Union Minister Pawan Bansal were present. Meanwhile, councillors Gurpreet Singh Gabi and Nirmala Devi filed nominations for the posts of senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor, respectively. A few days ago, Kuldeep Kumar was to take oath as the mayor, but the event was postponed as he had been unavailable citing “personal reasons”. The Supreme Court had declared Kuldeep Kumar the winner after watching the videos of the mayoral polls that had led to a controversy after the BJP candidate had been elected mayor as the presiding officer had been accused of malpractice. The mayor will be the presiding officer for the election to the senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor to be held on March 4.
Hry CM approves improvement of 10 ODR roads in Assandh, Karnal worth Rs 25 crore
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday granted administrative sanction for the special repair and improvement of 10 ODR roads in Assandh, Karnal District. This project will cost over Rs. 25 crore. The roads serving rural areas of production and providing them with outlet to market centres, tehsil headquarters, block development headquarters, railway stations etc. are known as Other District Roads (ODRs), said the government official spokesperson.
Haryana CM media advisor Rajiv Jaitley escapes unhurt in road accident; vehicle damaged
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister media advisor Rajiv Jaitley’s car met with an accident on the Chandigarh-Yamunanagar road on Wednesday. The government vehicle in which he was commuting was damaged. Members of the BJP said the media advisor escaped any injury. He was on his way to Delhi when the accident took place and resumed the journey soon after.
