With the counting of votes for the Jharkhand Assembly elections scheduled for November 23, preparations are in full swing in East Singhbhum district. The Cooperative College campus in Jamshedpur, designated as the counting center, underwent a thorough inspection by District Election Officer (DEO) Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal.
The inspection team included Project Director ITDA Dipankar Chaudhary, ADM (Law and Order) Aniket Sachan, SDM Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar, and City SP Kumar Shivashish. The officials reviewed the strong room, which houses the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and the assembly-wise counting centers to ensure all necessary preparations were in place.
The DEO and SSP focused on security measures and operational readiness. They inspected the strong room's security arrangements and evaluated the site for any potential gaps. Proper barricading, lighting arrangements in the counting halls, and the provision of necessary materials on the counting tables were discussed in detail.
The DEO instructed the team to ensure that security protocols were adhered to in line with the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) guidelines. Separate barricading for various personnel categories, including counting agents, candidates, laborers, officers, and media representatives, was emphasized. He also directed the issuance of ID cards for all individuals involved in the counting process to prevent unauthorized access.
Mittal highlighted the importance of making adequate arrangements for the personnel involved on counting day. This includes the timely distribution of food packets, access to clean drinking water, and proper facilities for sealing the EVMs after the counting process.
Additionally, the DEO instructed the team to complete preparations for parking arrangements, issue vehicle entry passes, and create a media gallery to ensure smooth coverage of the event. All logistical arrangements were reviewed to avoid any last-minute disruptions.
SSP Kishore Kaushal provided an update on the law and order arrangements around the counting center. He assured that adequate police personnel would be deployed to maintain security and ensure a peaceful counting process. The focus is on creating a secure environment for all stakeholders, including candidates, officials, and media representatives.
The DEO reiterated the importance of completing all preparations well in advance. He instructed officials to coordinate with various departments and ensure seamless communication to address any issues promptly.
This comprehensive inspection underscores the district administration’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, secure, and efficient counting process. With all necessary preparations in place, the East Singhbhum district is geared up for a smooth and orderly counting day on November 23.
