Health Minister Banna Gupta inaugurated the state level Pulse Polio program on Sunday in the premises of Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Ramjanm Nagar.
On the occasion, Gupta said that there is no polio patient in the country right now. "We have controlled it. To maintain this, Polio Day is being celebrated across the state today. The country has seen the serious consequences of polio and hence we need to be vigilant. A total of 6115703 children will be given polio drops across the state," he said.
A total of 24463 booths have been set up in the entire district. A total of 48926 teams have been formed to administer polio drops to children. 4893 supervisors are working across the state to oversee the work of Pulse Polio. He said that polio drops are being given to children from zero to five years.
Gupta said that polio doses will be administered at all the pulse polio booths in East Singhbhum and by going door to door on 26th and 27th August by Saheya, Sevika and NGOs. A target has been set to administer polio doses to a total of 395368 children in East Singhbhum district. A total of 3066 booths have been set up in the entire district. 2804 teams and 187 transit teams have been formed.
In this program, Dr. CP Choudhary, Director Health Medical Education and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Sahir Pal Civil Surgeon East Singhbhum, Dr. Ranjit Panda District RCH Officer, Dr. OP Kesari District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr. Somalia Special Medical Officer, WHO, District Program Coordinator, City Manager, Public Health Manager, BTT and Saheya were prominently present in this program.
