188 polling booths marked critical in Garhwa

Out of  1170 polling stations, 188 have been declared as critical polling stations in the district, Garhwa Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer ShekharJamuar and SP Dipak Kumar Pandey said in a joint press conference on Saturday.   

To ensure free and fair elections and maintain law and order during the Lok Sabha polls, district election officer-cum-deputy commissioner  has directed all arms licence holders in the district to immediately deposit their licensed weapons and ammunition at the nearest police station by  April 02. Otherwise initiated proceedings for cancellation of their arms who failed to surrender their arms till the time fixed. 

The District Election Officer said that elections are to be held in the 4th phase in 13 Palamu Lok Sabha constituency, for which the date of notification is 18 April 2024, the last date for nomination is 25 April 2024, the date of scrutiny of nominations paper is 26 April 2024, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is 29 April 2024, the date of voting is 13 May 2024 and the date of counting is 4 June 2024. 

He informed that Shri Sadguru Jagjit Singh Namdhari College Garhwa has been prepared as the dispatch center for 80 Garhwa and 81 Bhawanathpur assembly constituencies, while Ganesh Lal Agrawal College Daltonganj has been prepared for 76 Daltonganj and 77 Vishrampur assembly constituencies. The receiving center for all was told to be Krishi Utpadan Bazar Samiti Palamu. The number of voters in Garhwa district are 10, 41,022, while the number of new voters voting for the first time is 30,142.  In which 80 Garhwa has 14790 and 81 Bhawanathpur has 15352 voters. 

In the press conference, Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Pandey informed that after the implementation of MCC on 16 March 2024, 774 liters of illegal country liquor have been seized at various check posts so far, 113 liters of beer and 35 liters of foreign wine have also been seized. 10 illegal country-made weapons have been seized. There are a total of 703 licensed weapons in the district, out of which 236 weapons have been deposited in the various police stations so far and the remaining weapons are also being deposited. So far action has been taken against 101 people under 107 Cr. P. and 350 non-bailable warrants have been disposed off, 124 people have been produced before the  Court. Five inter-state check posts are active, out of which checkpoints have been set up on two UP borders, two Chhattisgarh borders and 1 Bihar border. Magistrates and police force are deployed at all check posts, vehicles are being checked actively. Every activity is being monitored 24/7 by staying in the district through webcams.  Daily checking campaigns are also being carried out by setting up check posts at random locations through 24 static surveillance teams and 18 police stations.
