As many as 14 young contenders managed to clinch a seat in the State Assembly this elections fielded by the various political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the Indian National Congress and also the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM).
The youngest contender is Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) leader Jairam Mahato (29), who managed to defeat Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's Bebi Devi on the Dumri assembly seat by a whopping number of 10,945 votes. Jairam, who has made a mark as a Kurmi leader garnered a total of 94496 votes while Debi received 83551 votes.
Mahto launched his political party Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) ahead of the Assembly elections and contested from two seats- Dumri and Bermo. The young leader with a considerable following amongst the youth has been propagating about only the use of the local language and also jobs only for the people of Jharkhand in the State.
Amongst the women candidates, Kalpana Soren is the sole female JMM candidate making it to the list of young MLAs. The 39- year old made her political debut from Gandey this election, managed to woo voters and clinch a whopping 119372 votes. Soren defeated her BJP counterpart Muniya Devi from this seat by 17142 votes.
Meanwhile, 37- year old Jagat Majhi fielded by the JMM from the constituency of Manoharpur got 73040 votes. He defeated his opponent Dinesh Chandra Boipai of All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) who got 41078 votes, with a margin of 31956 votes.
JMM’s 40- year old Vikas Kumar Munda from Tamar clinched as many as 65655 votes and won with a margin of 24246 against his counterpart Gopal Krishna Patar of the Janta Dal (United).
JMM’s Potka candidate 41- year old Sanjib Sardar garnered a total of 120322 as against his BJP Competitor Meera Munda who got 92420 and won with a margin of 27902 votes.
The Bhartiya Janta Party’s 30- year old Purnima Sahu is the youngest female fielded by the party on the list. Contesting the elections from Jamshedpur East, Sahu won by a margin of 42871 votes and received a total of 107191 as against her rival Ajoy Kumar fielded by the Congress who got 64320 votes.
Sahu is followed by 34- year old Alok Kumar Chaurasiya from the same political party who contested the elections from Daltonganj and won by a slight margin of 890 votes only. Chaurasiya got a total of 102175 votes while his opponent Krishna Nand Tripathi from the Congress received 101285
BJP’s 40- year old Amit Kumar Yadav contested the elections from Barkatha and defeated his opponent Janki Prasad Yadav fielded by the JMM. The former won with a margin of 3660 votes by receiving a total of 82221 votes while the latter got 78561 votes.
Fighting on the Congress ticket 31- year old Shilpi Neha Tirkey won the Mandar seat by a whopping margin of 22803 votes. Tirkey got as many as 135936 votes defeated her rival Sunny Toppo from the BJP who got 113133 votes.
The Indian National Congress fielded 39- year old Mamta Devi from Ramgarh who won the seat with 89818 votes. Devi defeated her female counterpart Sunita Choudhary from the AJSU with a margin of 6790 votes while the latter received 83028 votes.
Kumar Jaimangal (Anup Singh), is another 39- year old Congress candidate who clinched the seat of Bermo from Jairam Mahto’s Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha party. The former garnered a total of 90246 votes and defeated the latter with a margin of 29375 votes.
Congress contender 40- year old Shwettaa Singh won from Bokaro by receiving 133438 votes. Singh defeated BJP’s Biranchi Narayan who got 126231 votes by a margin of 7207 votes.
Fourty- year old Nirmal Mahto from Mandu from AJSU got 90871 votes and won with only 231 votes while his opponent Congress’s Jai Prakash Bhai Patel got 90640 votes.
Sudeep Gudhiya (42) from the constituency of Torpa was fielded by the JMM with 40647 votes. Gudhiya got 80887 votes while his opponent Koche Munda from the BJP received 40240 votes.
