CBI summons Akhilesh
NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav as a “witness” to record his statement on Thursday in illegal mining cases registered five years ago.
The cases pertain to the issuance of mining leases in alleged violation of e-tendering process.
Manipur commandos hold arms down stir
IMPHAL: Manipur Police commandos on Wednesday laid down their arms in protest against the abduction of Additional Superintendent Amit Kumar Moirangthem and demanded they be allowed to retaliate when attacked.
The commandos of all districts put down their arms asking for action against Metei radical group Arambai Tenggol.
Two hit by train in Jharkhand
Jamtara: At least two persons were run over and killed by a train in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district on Wednesday evening, police said. Jamtara sub-division police officer (SDPO) M Rahman told PTI that the accident took place near Kaljharia area in Jamtara district when some passengers got down from the train from the wrong side. “A local train coming on another line hit them,” he said. “Bodies of two persons have been recovered so far. Search operation is on and the toll might increase,” he said. Eastern Railway CPRO Kaushik Mitra said, “There is no incident of fire. As of now, two deaths have been confirmed. The deceased are not passengers. They were walking on the track. A 3-member JAG committee has been formed to enquire about the issue.”
