Operations between Bhairabi, Hortoki authorised
Maligaon: The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Sumeet Singhal has authorised operation of freight and passenger trains in the 16.725 km newly laid BG line between Bhairabi and Hortoki on 22nd of August, 2024. Earlier CRS had completed the statutory inspection of the said section at the end of last month. This section is a part of the ongoing 51.38 Km long Bhairabi - Sairang new rail line project. CRS has approved operations of trains through the newly laid railway line at a maximum speed of 75 KMPH after successful inspection and speed trail. This newly laid line will be helpful for carrying more freight and passenger traffic through this route.
Stalin lays foundation for Sembcorp's plant
Chennai: MK Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today virtually laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art green ammonia plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. In his address the CM said, "Tamil Nadu has been a frontrunner in renewable energy initiatives, playing an important part in advancing India's energy transition targets. I am confident that this project in Tuticorin will be a stepping stone to establish Tamil Nadu as a global hub for green hydrogen production. This collaborative project reflects the commitment of all the partner nations - India, Singapore, and Japan - to work towards a sustainable future for the region."
Beri gets extension as Director, Finance, PSPCL
Patiala: Punjab Government has extended the term of appointment of Surinder Kumar Beri as Director (Finance), Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) for one year or till a successor is appointed, whichever is earlier. An order to this effect has been passed on Friday by Rahul Tewari, Secretary to Government of Punjab Department of Power.
Lecture on Literature of the Margins at GNDU
Amirtsar: Special Lecture on "Literatures of the Margins" was organised by School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University. Renowned writer and educationist, Dr Ishmeet Kaur Chaudhary, Professor at Central University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, delivered a special lecture during the event. It was presided by eminent Punjabi scholar Dr Manmohan Singh IPS, Professor of Eminence at Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr Manjinder Singh, Head, School of Punjabi Studies School highlighted the sensitivity and significance of its theme. He emphasised that literature plays a crucial role in addressing the existential concerns of marginalised sections and creating a balanced and peaceful society.
Many GNDU students qualify PPSC test
New Delhi: It is a matter of pride for Guru Ramdas School of Planning of Guru Nanak Dev University that 39 of its graduates have been called for documentation verification after qualifying the written test of Public Service Commission Punjab for 37 posts of Assistant Town Planners in the Local Bodies Department of Government of Punjab. A total of 46 candidates have been called for the documentation verification, constituting 85% from GRDSP.
