Delhi LG kicks off Tiranga Yatra at IP University
New Delhi: Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena kicked off Tiranga Yatra at IP University and joined with around five thousand students, staff, nearby residents and villagers in the walkathon from the Dwarka campus of the university to sector 14 metro station. He said, “Tiranga Yatra is an embodiment of the collective commitment to nation-building and created a personal connection with the Tiranga.”
VC releases book ‘Tree and Shrubs of Amritsar’
Amritsar: Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University released a book “Trees and Shrubs of Amritsar: A Pictorial Field Guide” authored by Prof Avinash Kaur Nagpal and her four Ph.D. students, Dr Gurveen Kaur, Dr Jaskirat Kaur, Dr Akanksha Bakshi and Nitika Sharma of the Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences. Sandhu appreciated the book and congratulated authors for meticulously utilising simple language, common plant names, and vibrant photographs of the plants and their various parts. He remarked that the guide is accessible to a broad audience, extending its utility beyond botanists to anyone with an interest in nature. Nagpal informed that this book documents 100 species of trees and shrubs growing along the roadsides, in public gardens, parks, educational institutes; and residential, commercial and industrial areas of the holy city, Amritsar.

Maligaon: To clear extra rush of passengers, it has been decided to continue the services of four pairs of weekly special train no 05671/05672 (Guwahati - Anand Vihar Terminal- Guwahati) & 05919/05920 (New Tinsukia-Bhagat Ki Kothi - New Tinsukia) for single tripand train no. 05734/ 05733 (Katihar-Amritsar- Katihar) & 02525/02526 (Kamakhya-Anand Vihar Terminal-Kamakhya) for 4 trips each in both directions. These trains will run with the existing days of service, timings, composition and stoppages. The extension of these trains services will benefit wait listed passengers of other trains in those routes.
Hamdard’s Pharmacy tops in NIRF Rankings
New Delhi: Jamia Hamdard regained top rank (number 1) in India in pharmacy institution category for the 6th times since the NIRF was launched in 2016. Hamdard is on the 40th position in ‘University’ category and 62nd in ‘overall’ category. Its ranking in ‘medical’ category is 37. It has secured 78th position in ‘management’ and in the ‘engineering’ category it is in the ranking band of 201-300. Chancellor Hammad Ahmed and Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr) M Afshar Alam expressed their happiness. Each year, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) releases its list of top educational institutions based on key criteria like teaching quality, research efforts, graduation results, outreach and overall reputation.
