The Delhi Police's Crime Branch arrested a 46 year old dreaded gang member of a notorious gang involved in a double murder case of two members of a rival gang.
According to the police on Wednesday, the accused who has been identified as Kaptan alias Tanu, a resident of Delhi's Narela, is found to be previously involved in more 15 cases including murder, attempt to murder, armed robbery, Arms Act cases among others in Delhi.
He had been sentenced to Life Imprisonment in one murder case of Narela police station and seven years in another case of armed robbery.
"The accused has close proximity with dreaded and jailed gangsters. He was also declared "Proclaimed Absconder" in a case and a reward of Rs 50,000 had been declared on the accused by worthy CP/Delhi in 2018," a senior police official said.
Upon receiving inputs about his whereabouts, a police team was sent to Bihar and a trap was laid and the above-mentioned accused was apprehended from Village Bishunpur, Jalalpur police station, District Saran, Bihar.
"The accused tried to escape from the spot and ran towards the fields but the team showed alertness and presence of mind and the accused was successfully chased and overpowered. The accused was subsequently arrested and brought to Delhi," he said.
