Congress announces nine candidates for Haryana Assembly Elections

The Congress party announced its second list of 9 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.

Among notable contenders, Mohit Grover was nominated for the Gurgaon seat. The party also fielded fresh and young leader Vardhan Yadav against BJP’s strongest candidate, Rao Narbir Singh, from the Badshahpur seat.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also released list’s first list on Monday who nominated Bir Singh Sarpanch from Badshahpur assembly constituency and Dharmender khatana from Sohna assembly constituency.

Apart from this, former BJP MLA Umesh Agarwal refused to contest Haryana assembly elections.

Agarwal, had won the 2014 election from the Gurugram seat with the highest margin in the State that year, but was denied a ticket by the BJP in 2019. Later in March 2022 Agarwal had joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Meanwhile, Mohit Grover had unsuccessfully contested 2019 Haryana assembly poll from Gurgaon seat as an independent candidate. He lost the elections against BJP’s Sudhir Singla.

However, he received over 48,000 votes in his debut elections. Grover had recently joined the Congress party.

Meanwhile, the Congress candidate Vardhan Yadav would contest his debut elections against Rao Narbir Singh of the BJP, who is a prominent ahir leader and have strong connection within the ahir belt.

The saffron party however, declared three tickets Gurgaon, Sonha and Badshahpur and put Pataudi assembly ticket on hold while the Congress party is yet to declare Pataudi  and Sohna assembly constituencies candidates. Meanwhile, Congress, keeping in mind the large number of Punjabi voters in the Gurgaon seat, has now nominated Punjabi face Mohit Grover.

Meanwhile, the BJP has fielded Mukesh Sharma, who is a Brahmin. If Naveen Goyal, a (vaishya) face who recently had parted his way from the BJP after denial his ticket contested the elections from Gurgaon seat as an independent candidate. The elections bettle for BJP’s candidate would not be easy.

Congress’s Punjabi face, Dharambir Gaba, had won the MLA election from this seat five times.
