Even as Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blamed the opposition parties for politicising the RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case setting deadline for the Central Bureau of Investigation to crack the case by the coming Sunday the CBI on Thursday summoned five doctors for questioning in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a lady doctor.
The Calcutta High Court had earlier found the police investigation deficient and transferred the case to the central agency.
Among those summoned and questioned were the head of the department of Chest Medicine where the victim was enrolled as a postgraduate student, the Assistant Superintendent of the medical college and others, sources said.
"The officials recorded our statements and wanted to know about the affairs inside the hospital as also the administration and the conduct of the Principal Dr Sandip Ghosh … I shared whatever I knew about things," one of the doctors said after emerging from the grilling session.
