Eight months after the Maharashtra Government withdrew all the cases against him, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in an eight-year-old extortion case against the former Police Commissioner of Thane and Mumbai Police Param Bir Singh and others.
In a closure report filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thane Court, the CBI stated that the facts and circumstances that emerged during the investigations “do not substantiate the allegations or disclose any incriminating evidence for launching prosecution against any of the accused persons”.
In its closure report, the CBI provided a detailed report of its deep investigations into the case, plus all the documentary evidence and list of 23 witnesses therein as part of the closure report.
