Even in his death former Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee tended to defy the law of diminishing returns with thousands of his Marxist comrades and common men by the street bidding him a tearful adieu on Friday. Bhattacharjee breathed his last on Thursday morning after a prolonged illness.
The Marxist patriarch, known for his commitment to communist ideology and pragmatic approach to industrialising the State was 80 and is survived his wife Meera Bhattacharjee and son Suchentan. Bhattacharjee's predecessor Jyoti Basu too had pledged his body for medical research.
