The Volunteer Service Organization (VSO), MTMC Chapter, a unit of MAHE, and Student Research Forum (SRF) was inaugurated at Manipal Tata Medical College.
VSO-MAHE was established on September 17, 2007 to provide students, faculty and their spouses at Manipal with the chance to live with meaning by assisting people in need. It is a platform that not only assists the poor, but also gives each volunteer the opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience, collaborate with others and most importantly grow as a person. VSO works on programs that address community, social organizational and soft skills development. The Student Research Forum, Manipal Tata Medical College under the aegis of MAHE SRF was also inaugurated. Dr. G Pradeep Kumar, Dean, MTMC spoke about the importance of research as one of the five pillars of MAHE as an Institution of Eminence. Dr. Niti Nipun Sharma, Pro VC addressed the students about the importance of Research and also emphasized that academics form a base to research and it is very important to excel and contribute to society.
Dr Raguram Tata, Associate Professor Strategic Management and Chairperson of the Father Arrupe Centre for Ecology and Sustainability at XLRI Jamshedpur, inaugurated the Chapter of VSO MAHE at MTMC by lamp lighting. The event was graced by distinguished Dr Sharath K Rao, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Health Sciences MAHE, Dr Dilip G Naik, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Mangaluru campus, Dr Anup Naha, Chief Coordinator VSO MAHE, Dr Abhishek Chaturvedi, Secretary VSO MAHE, Dean MTMC Dr Pradeep Kumar G and Director of Academic Administration and Quality Dr Rajiva Dwivedi.
Dr Harish Chander Bandhu , (Associate dean Clinical), Dr Vijay Kautilya D Associate Dean (Para Clinical), Dr. Ashim Mishra Head- Research Cell, Dr Sachin Kumar Patil (NSS Programme Officer) and, Mr. Debasis Sinha- Head HR and Mr. Kshitij Mohan- Administrative Officer., were present to make this event a grand success.
To enhance the event also included cultural events by MBBS students Mr Vikas Thakur and Enakshi.by events like singing and dance. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr Khushboo to all the doctors and organizers who contributed to the success of inauguration of the Volunteer Service Organization (VSO).
