Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a trailblazer in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), achieving remarkable milestones in various crucial areas of healthcare. The state has not only claimed the top position in India for creating Ayushman Bharat health accounts but also excelled in healthcare professional registrations, digital health incentives and the generation of scan and share tokens.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s active involvement in overseeing the progress of PMJAY within the state has been pivotal, offering consistent guidance and directives to officials.
According to data released by the National Health Authority under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Uttar Pradesh leads the nation by generating an impressive total of 4,77,19,482 Ayushman Bharat Health accounts. Following Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh secures the second position, with Madhya Pradesh in third, Maharashtra in fourth and Gujarat in fifth place.
Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare achievements extend further, with health records of more than 2.73 crore individuals updated, placing the state among the top three in this notable accomplishment. States such as Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat trail behind Uttar Pradesh in this regard.
Furthermore, Uttar Pradesh takes the lead in the country for Health Care Professionals Registration (HPR) under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. A total of 42,741 healthcare professionals have been registered in the state, including over 10,000 doctors and more than 32,000 nursing staff.
In Health Facility Registration (HFR), Uttar Pradesh secures second place in the nation, with 38,863 health facility centres, encompassing both government and private healthcare centres. The Yogi government’s aim is to swiftly integrate as many private healthcare centres in the state as possible into the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
Additionally, Uttar Pradesh’s top-ranking status extends to scanning and generating tokens under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The state registered a remarkable 33,79,592 tokens for online OPD through Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission service, surpassing all other states in the country.
Karnataka follows Uttar Pradesh in this ranking, with Jammu and Kashmir in third place, Delhi in fourth, Andhra Pradesh in fifth and Chhattisgarh in sixth place.
A notable advantage of digital OPD token registration is the significant reduction in waiting times for Ayushman cardholders. Previously, patients had to wait for approximately one hour to see a doctor in the OPD, but now, the waiting time has been reduced to just 4-5 minutes. Approximately 34 lakh patients have already availed themselves of the Scan and Token Generate facility.
Uttar Pradesh’s success story in healthcare is further underscored by the participation of 545 hospitals in the state that use the Health Management Information System (HMIS) to provide these services efficiently.
These milestones exemplify Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to accessible and efficient healthcare, furthering the vision of PMJAY and improving the lives of its citizens. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s dedication to the cause continues to drive the state towards new heights in healthcare delivery.
