Chhattisgarh on Friday signed a MoU with the United Nations to boost the production of wheat and rice in the tribal-dominated Balrampur and Dantewada districts.
An official communiqué said the UN will provide Rs 31.404 crore for this programme.
Along with producting rice and wheat, digital agriculture will also be encouraged. The programme will operate for five years.
The MoU was signed between the Agriculture Department and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAP), the communiqué said.
The Director of Agriculture, Chandan Sanjay Tripathi, signed the MoU along with UN representative Takayuki Hajiwara.
The UN was informed about the immense scope for export of non-basmati paddy from the state. The possibilities of coffee and tea production were also discussed.
