In a major developmental push for Ludhiana, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday declared a comprehensive facelift for the industrial town with the initiation and completion of projects worth crores of rupees. Reviewing the ongoing projects in a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister affirmed the Government's commitment to the industrial city’s overall development.

Notable projects include 46 green plantation initiatives costing Rs 28.91 crore, with 19 already completed. Additionally, under the Smart City scheme, 72 projects worth Rs 930 crore were initiated, with Rs 219 crore projects already completed. Major projects like the Integrated Command and Control Centre, indoor swimming pool, LED street lights, surface water supply, and more are set to elevate Ludhiana's infrastructure.

In response to a longstanding demand, Mann announced the commencement of the much-awaited Rahon road re-carpeting, spanning a 16 km stretch from Khawajke village to Mattewara. Tenders have already been allotted, said Mann, while pledging to personally monitor the project's progress, ensuring its timely completion.

Mann also announced the installation of 1500 street lights and CCTV cameras in Ludhiana’s every legislative constituency, enhancing the safety of its residents. The issue of Budha Nullah will also be addressed, with construction on the bridge over the Nullah to link Jalandhar road set to begin, he said.

The Chief Minister added that the flights from Halwara terminal are also scheduled to start on February 15, further stimulating economic and industrial activities in the region.

In a parallel initiative to make Ludhiana clean, green, and pollution-free, Mann dedicated a machinery, worth Rs 19 crore, to the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana (MCL). The machinery, including jetting machines, pot hole repair machines, and a Turn Table Ladder for the fire brigade, aimed at streamlining the city's functioning. Mann stressed the government's commitment to providing modern civic amenities, promising additional gifts for Ludhiana residents and the entire state in the upcoming days.
