Three family members of an IPS officer posted in Ladakh were killed when a truck hit their car in Durg district in Chhattisgarh, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place near Khedamara village on Tuesday night when P. Venkataratnam (65), P. Santhi (60) and an 85-year-old woman were returning to Bhilai from Berla village, Durg Senior Superintendent of Police Ram Gopal Garg said.
Venkataratnam and Santhi were parents while the elderly woman was the maternal grandmother of IPS officer P.D. Nitya, who is posted as the Superintendent of Police in Leh in Ladakh.
The truck driver was arrested.
