Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has introduced a transformative educational project, unveiling plans for ‘Chief Minister Model Composite Schools’ in 57 districts across the state.
Additionally, one composite school in each of the 75 districts will be upgraded to a ‘Chief Minister Abhyudaya Composite School.’ This initiative builds upon the success of ‘Atal Residential Schools,’ dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children.
In a recent high-level meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath outlined crucial guidelines for this ambitious project, which aims to establish well-equipped schools offering education from pre-primary to the 12th grade in every district.
The ‘Chief Minister Model Composite Schools’ will span 5-10 acres, with landmarking in progress. These institutions will initially accommodate at least three class sections and offer residential facilities for school staff.
These state-of-the-art schools will feature smart classrooms, robotics and machine learning centres, advanced science and mathematics labs, modular chemistry and physics labs (for classes 09 to 12), computer facilities, language labs, extensive libraries, spacious activity halls with playgrounds and gyms, solar power,  rainwater harvesting units, water treatment plants, mid-day meal kitchens, dining facilities, modern fire safety equipment and online CCTV surveillance.
Under the ‘PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India)’ scheme, 1725 government schools have been selected for comprehensive improvement. The first phase aims to complete construction work for 272 primary council schools, 570 composite council schools and 82 secondary schools by December, following Government of India guidelines.
This initiative also focuses on skill and entrepreneurship development, upgrading 75 schools from the 24,000 composite schools (Pre Primary to Class 08) in the state to Chief Minister Abhyudaya Composite Schools. These schools will include Abhyudaya Blocks with five classrooms, mid-day meal facilities, Bal Vatikas, Nutrition Vatikas, enhanced security measures, child-friendly infrastructure, Wi-Fi, and CCTV setups. Outstanding teachers will be selected through computer-based testing.
An additional 250 council composite schools will undergo government-level upgrades, featuring modern facilities such as language labs, smart classrooms, security measures, modular science labs, and robotics and machine learning labs. Implementation and oversight will be the responsibility of the district magistrate.
The plan also includes upgrading schools near interstate and international routes while ensuring electricity supply to disaster-affected and unelectrified schools.
