Min makes surprise visit to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital

Tuesday, 25 July 2023 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Monday announced a transformative plan for healthcare in North West Delhi. Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, who conducted a surprise inspection at the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri also unveiled plans to gift the people of the area a new and state-of-the-art Trauma Centre.

The construction work of the new Trauma Centre building in the hospital is expected to be completed shortly. Bhardwaj stated that as per the orders of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the construction of this Trauma Centre is already underway. The new facility is set to become India's largest, with a capacity of 662 beds and equipped with all the necessary facilities required during emergencies. It will play a crucial role in providing immediate medical care to accident victims in the vicinity who require urgent attention.

During the inspection, Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj thoroughly reviewed various hospital facilities, including emergency services, the OPD department, the medical prescription queue, and the ICU. Patients at the hospital expressed satisfaction with the services, and there were no complaints from any patient or attendant.

Bhardwaj also ensured that no middlemen were exploiting patients and engaged in conversations with those waiting in the prescription line and the admitted patients to inquire about their health. He further verified the veracity of claims made by the hospital management regarding healthcare provisions. Bhardwaj advised people seeking treatment to immediately report any deceptive behaviour or attempts to extort money by impersonating hospital staff to the hospital administration for swift action. He emphasised that under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Government is providing all possible support for the development of the institution, and negligence in providing healthcare facilities to the public will not be tolerated.

During the inspection of the Trauma Centre building at the site in Mangolpuri, MLA Rakhi Birla, who was present, informed Bhardwaj that the construction work was progressing at an extremely slow pace, not adhering to its scheduled time frame. Expressing dissatisfaction over this, Bhardwaj reprimanded the contractor and issued directions to expedite the construction work and complete the building within the specified time. He emphasised that the new Trauma Centre, once built, would benefit millions of people residing in and around this area.

The hospital will offer various diagnostic facilities, operation theaters, and OPD halls, benefiting the public in North West Delhi.
