The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an Orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the State in the next few days.
The low-pressure area over the north-east and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal and the associated cyclonic circulation now persist. The low-pressure area is likely to become well-marked and move northwestwards towards north Odisha and adjoining West Bengal coasts during the next 48 hours.
On Saturday heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleswar, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar, said the weather office issuing a Yellow warning.
On Sunday, Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Baleswar, said the Regional Office of the IMD here issuing an Orange warning.
Besides, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely in the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha on the day, said the weather office issuing a Yellow warning.
On Monday, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur in the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Subarnapur and Balangir.
Also, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur in the districts of Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Baleswar and Bhadrak.
