A TPSODL lineman was electrocuted while carrying out repair works in an electricity pole near Naryan Sahi in Phulbani town.
The power supply had been switched off before the repair works, but it resumed when the lineman was still repairing the fault. The deceased was identified as Jitendra Das, a resident of Masterpada in the town.
Getting information, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. Later, his family members and locals blocked the road and demanded Rs 50 lakh as compensation and a job to one of his family members. After the power distribution company’s officials announced Rs 15-lakh compensation, a job for one of his family members, the road blockade was lifted.
