Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that the government is committed to incorporate yoga in the daily routine of the citizens and a target has been set to establish Yogashalas across the state and appoint 1000 AYUSH assistants. Out of these, 882 Ayush Yoga Assistants have taken charge in various Yogashalas and the work of recruitment of remaining Ayush Yoga Assistants is in progress through Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam.
Addressing the Yoga and AYUSH Assistant Training Camp organized in Panchkula, Khattar said that Ayush Yoga Assistants were appointed in every district who will collect reports from the village yoga assistants and send them to the headquarters on the 21st of every month. Apart from this, in the second phase, special yoga trainers will be appointed in all the districts who will also provide training to yoga assistants from time to time. He said that biometric machines will be made available in the gymnasiums in which the attendance of yoga practitioners will also be monitored. He said that the grading work of Yoga Sahayaks will be done every year in which awards will also be given to the Yoga Sahayaks who secure first, second and third position in every district.
Khattar announced to open Yogashalas in 6500 villages of the state and hand over the responsibility of these to Yoga Sahayaks. He said that transfer of yoga assistants to a nearby place will be considered. He said that in the villages where there are gymnasiums, wellness centres will be opened according to the population in the village, in which yoga will be promoted and people will be made aware about the nutritious diet, healthy routine etc. For this, wide publicity will also be ensured to spread the message across every nook and corner of the
He also launched Yoga Manas portal to monitor the yoga activities taking place in the yogashalas. The Ayush department of the State government has created an app - Yoga Manas (Yog Shala Management and Analytical System) - to help people locate yoga centres in their locality and get details of sessions. Besides this, yoga instructors can organise sessions via the app at any centre of the department.
Khattar said that Yoga is known for disease prevention, health promotion and management of many lifestyle-related disorders. He said that considering the importance of Yoga, the new generation in Haryana has been inspired for Yoga training and Yoga practice and it is also being taught in schools, colleges and universities of the state. Yoga education has been included as a compulsory subject from classes 1 to 10 from the academic session -2022-23. Along with this, the Haryana Yoga Commission has been formed to promote yoga.
The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to opening gymnasiums in 6500 villages of the state to promote yoga. 1121 places have been identified for this. Out of these, the construction work of 718 gymnasiums has been completed and the construction work of 273 yoga and gymnasiums is in progress. AYUSH wings have been established at the district level in the state in which yoga experts have been appointed. In these AYUSH wings, yoga experts are giving training to people to stay healthy and help in treating diseases.
He said that it has been decided to upgrade all the Ayurvedic dispensaries in the state to AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres. Till now 386 Ayurvedic dispensaries have been upgraded into AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres. Yoga instructors will be appointed in these AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres who will provide information to the general public about ways to improve lifestyle and avoid diseases through yoga.
