Bowing to the demand of the secretariat employees, the State government has affected a hefty increase in the secretariat special allowance. The officers and employees of the State secretariat will now receive the secretariat special allowance which would be 85 per cent of the grade pay. This allowance has been increased from existing 50 per cent of the grade pay. An order regarding increasing the special allowance was issued by the additional chief secretary Radha Raturi on Monday. The decision will benefit about 1,100 employees of the State secretariat as their salaries will increase from Rs 1,200 to Rs 5,000 per month. The president of Uttarakhand secretariat employees association Deepak Joshi and secretary Vimal Joshi have expressed happiness on the decision to increase the special allowance.
