The Uttar Pradesh government admitted in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday that at least 6,957 posts are vacant against the sanctioned 19,011 posts of doctors in the district hospitals, community health centres and primary health centres of the state.
Giving an answer to the question of Prassana Kumar , Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who holds the Health portfolio, said that 1,903 doctors and 288 doctors were posted in the state through re-organisation and walk-in interviews under the National Health Mission.
“The process of filling up the posts of doctors is done from time to time through direct recruitment and promotion. The requisition has been sent to the UP Public Service Commission for filling 2,382 posts of specialist medical officers of Level-2,” he said.
The deputy chief minister said that doctors were posted on the basis of availability of doctors after selection by the UP Public Service Commission.
Answering another question asked by Mahendra Nath Yadav of Samajwadi Party, the deputy chief minister said that 197 health vehicles and 233 hearses were available centre-wise and district-wise in the state at the level of chief medical officer and chief medical superintendent.
“In case of breakdown of these vehicles, the controlling officer concerned gets the vehicles repaired,” he said.
Pathak said in addition to the above, 2,270 ambulances provide free medical transport facility to pregnant women and newborn babies up to the age of one year.
“At present, all the vehicles are in operation and in case of breakdown of the vehicles, the chief medical officers and chief medical superintendents of the district get the vehicles repaired,” he said.
Ayushman Bharat scheme
Pathak said that under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Chief Minister Jan Arogya Abhiyan, the number of all government and private hospitals currently listed in the state was 3,356, where the beneficiaries could get treatment free of cost through the Ayushman card.
“At present, a total of 2,52,89,481 Ayushman cards have been made in Uttar Pradesh under Ayushman Bharat-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana and Chief Minister Jan Arogya Abhiyan. The Ayushman cards of the remaining beneficiaries are being made continuously through a special campaign,” he said.
While answering a question of Uma Shankar Singh (Bahujan Samaj Party), the deputy chief minister said that the work of making Ayushman cards was going on continuously in the state, as a result of which Ayushman cards had been distributed to more than 2.52 crore beneficiaries in the state so far.
“The eligible beneficiaries who could not get Ayushman card due to some reason, can also get the benefit of the scheme by getting their card made at the time of treatment,” he said.
