The Orissa High Court on Friday directed the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee to form a high-level committee over the temple’s Ratna Bhandar issue.
The High Court gave the managing committee a period of two months for the formation of the panel.
Hearing a petition filed by BJP leader Samir Mohanty, a Division Bench of Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra and Justice Savitri Ratho had on September 27 reserved its judgment over the matter.
Informing about it, senior advocate Pitambar Acharya, who was representing the petitioner, said, “The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in its affidavit submitted in the High Court has mentioned that the Ratna Bhandar should be opened for repair work to ensure its safety and security.”
Mohanty in his petition had sought direction for repair of the Ratna Bhandar and an inventory of the ornaments kept inside it.
