Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that in the state’s general budget for the year 2023-2024, the focus will be placed to promote exports, products made from millet and employment opportunities. “By promoting exports, foreign exchange will come into the country and the economy of the state will be strengthened,” he said.

The Chief Minister was addressing the pre-budget consultation meeting with the stakeholders related to industry, manufacturing and service sectors at PWD Rest House, Gurugram. Khattar said that in view of the International Millet Year 2023, the units related to food processing; which will prepare products from millet, will also be promoted in the upcoming budget. “Special focus will be to strengthen the infrastructure of the state. Having good infrastructure will encourage investment and new industrial units will also be established,” he said, adding that the aim of the state government is to create more and more employment opportunities and rapid development of infrastructural facilities.

On the suggestions put forth by the representatives of various organizations in the pre-budget consultation, the Chief Minister assured that efforts will be made to incorporate them in the budget for the progress of the state. He also assured the representatives of considering the suggestion regarding VAT arrears.

Khattar said that Haryana's economy is very strong. "At present, there is no burden of any additional debt on the state. Haryana has grown its economy while staying within the limit of 25 percent of total GDP set for loans; while many states of the country have crossed this limit,” he asserted.

Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce department Anand Mohan Sharan said that before the preparation of the general budget for the year 2023-24 in the state, the Chief Minister has started consultation meetings. “Under this, today the meeting was held with the industry representatives, as industries play an important role in the economy,” he said. The representatives of industry, manufacturing and service sectors gave their suggestions for the upcoming budget to the Chief Minister and also presented a copy of their presentation.

Apart from officials, representatives of various industry organizations working in the state including CII, FICCI, NASSCOM, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ASSOCHAM, GIA Gurugram, IMT Manesar Association, Faridabad Industries Association, Haryana Rice Exporters Association, Bahadurgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and textile association participated in the meeting.
