Kendrapada district reported a third death due to crocodile attack in 15 days on Thursday. In the latest incident, an elderly man became a victim to crocodile attack at Ghagaradiha village under the Nikrai police station. The deceased was identified as Gangadhara Tarai (63).
Tarai had gone near the Brahmani river to attend nature's call when a crocodile dragged him into the water body and he went missing.
Getting information, Fire Service personnel rushed to the village and launched a frantic search in the presence of the Pattamundai Tehsildar and police personnel. After hours of search operation, Tarai’s body was fished out from the river.
Notably, on June 21, a woman, Sita Das, from Hatiagadi village under Rajnagar block in the district fell victim to a crocodile attack. Later, one Ashutosh Acharya, a Class -student of Nimpur village under Pattamundai block, was dragged and killed by a crocodile on June 14.
