Eight youths drown during idol immersion

Eight youths drowned during the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols in separate incidents in Mainpuri, Agra and Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida).
In the first incident in Mainpuri, the incident took place in the Vidhuna Kund built in the Rishi Markandeya temple complex located in Ghiror area of the district. Five people who had come to immerse the idol drowned in a pond. Locals and divers rushed to their rescue but managed to safely bring out only two of them, who were rushed to Saifai PG Hospital.
Three bodies were fished out later. The deceased were identified as Brijendra Shakya (40), Atul (22) and Aryan (18), all of Dalupur in Mainpuri.
In another incident, five youths of Mandi Saeed Khan drowned in Yamuna in Agra. Divers managed to rescue only  two of them. Later, the bodies of three youths were recovered. They were identified as Shivam, Rambaran and Babu.
Meanwhile in Noida, two real brothers, residents of Nithari village, drowned in Yamuna. As per reports, Dheeraj Rajput originally hails from Budaun but has been living in a rented house with his family in Nithari (Noida) for the last 15 years.
He said that his family had been installing Ganpati at his home for the last five years. On Thursday afternoon, he, along with his family members, and about 20 others left for immersion of the idol in Yamuna. At around 3:30 pm, everyone was taking a bath in the river near Chilla Khadar Mayur Vihar. Meanwhile, his six-year-old son Krishna also went there along with elder brother Neeraj (15) and Sachin (17).
Krishna suddenly got stuck in the swamp and started drowning. When Neeraj went to save him, he also drowned.
His son Sachin and 19-year-old neighbour Abhishek also started drowning.
People took all the four out and rushed them to a hospital where doctors pronounced Neeraj and Krishna 'brought dead', while Sachin was put on a ventilator in a private hospital. Abhishek’s condition is also said to be critical.
