ED officials quiz Sahibganj SP in illegal mining case

Wednesday, 29 November 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Sahibganj SP Naushad Alam on Tuesday reached the regional office of Enforcement Directoratefter  (ED) located at Hinoo after the second summons was sent by the central probe agency. ED officials have quizzed Alam for several hours . He has been accused of instigating the witnesses. The ED had asked to appear on November 22, but he failed to appear. He had sought time from ED. On 22nd November itself, ED issued a second summons and asked him to appear on 28th November.

ED had made Vijay Hansda its witness in the case of illegal mining in Sahibganj. In his statement given to ED, he had given detailed information about the role of Pankaj Mishra in the case of illegal mining taking place in Sahibganj. He himself had filed a FIR in the case of illegal mining taking place in Nimbu Pahar. Also, during his stay in jail, he had filed a petition in the High Court to send a message on the police investigation in the Nimbu Pahar case by an independent agency, but after getting bail, he filed an IA in the High Court to withdraw his petition.

He had argued for returning the petition in the High Court. In which he had said that during his stay in jail, his Vakalatnama was forged to file his bail petition but fraudulently he filed the petition demanding investigation in the Lemon Pahad case. The Court took seriously the incident of Vijay Hansda demanding an investigation and later retracting it. He ordered a CBI inquiry. On the same day, Vijay Hansda lodged an FIR against CBI witnesses Mukesh Yadav and Ashok Yadav at Dhurwa police station.

ED officials were also accused in the FIR lodged at Dhurwa police station. Mukesh Yadav filed a petition in the High Court to cancel the FIR registered in Dhurwa police station. The High Court prohibited taking coercive action against the accused in the FIR lodged in the police station. Meanwhile, jailed Pankaj Mishra challenged the CBI investigation order given on the petition of Vijay Hansda in the Supreme Court.
