The transmission of dengue has increased in the state capital Bhopal as 170 new dengue cases were reported in September, 272 new dengue positive patients were reported on October 29 which is 102 more patients than last month.
The situation of increasing dengue transmission in Bhopal is alarming while since the last 3 months health workers of the District Malaria Officer office and staff of the health department are continuously conducting larval and fever surveys. Due to this, health workers have started to question the effectiveness of the larvisite being used to eliminate the larvae of the dengue mosquito.
According to the report of the District Malaria Office, an average of 9 new dengue positive patients have been found in Bhopal every day. The average number of patients seen daily in September was 5.
Despite larval survey, fever survey and regular fogging, increasing dengue infection in the city has added to the health department's problems. Due to this, the leave of the employees associated with the District Malaria Office has been cancelled. So that increasing transmission of the disease can be controlled in time by increasing fever survey, larval survey and fogging in hot spot areas of dengue.
According to the report of Bhopal District Malaria Office, maximum 1844 samples were tested in October this year. Out of this 272 came out dengue positive. After October 2019, the largest number of dengue positive patients has been reported this year in this month.
According to the report of District Malaria Officer, Shyamala Hills, Eidgah Hills and Gandhi Medical College Campus, Kohefiza and Lalghati have become the biggest dengue hotspots. So far, 71 positive cases of dengue fever have been reported in the respective areas. Shyamala Hills, Idgah Hills area has the highest number of dengue positive patients this year with 26, Gandhi Medical College campus area with 23 and Kohefiza-Lalghati area with 22.
According to the report, last year Bhopal became dengue hotspot, Awadhapuri is dengue free this year. There is no dengue positive patient this year. Similarly, Gandhinagar, Vijay Nagar, Shivlok and Tila Jamalpura areas are dengue free zones this year. There is no dengue patient this year in the concerned areas.
September and October have seen the highest number of cases this year. More than 400 dengue positives have been found in Bhopal in two months. It has received 170 patients in September and more than 240 patients in October so far. According to Malaria officials, patients are currently being found. There is fogging going on. If larvae are found there, they are destroyed and fogging is being done with the help of municipal corporation etc.
Senior Physician of Noble Hospital Dr. SK Srivastava said that 16 patients with complaints of fever are admitted in the hospital. The symptoms of fever in these patients are similar to those of dengue. Out of these 6 patients have come out dengue positive in ELISA test. The report of 10 fever patients is negative. But, their fever symptoms are similar to dengue. The platelet count of dengue patients is low. Fever that usually gets better in 3 to 4 days, gets better in 5 to 7 days.
Director of Paliwal Hospital Dr. JP Paliwal said that we have 4 patients admitted with fever. 2 of which have dengue-like symptoms. He is constantly having fever. We are providing treatment under dengue protocol. There are also such patients whose recovery takes 15-20 days.
