Congress hits out at BJP over Malik’s disclosure

Saturday, 29 April 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

The Congress on Friday attacked Bharatiya Janata Party over recent disclosure by former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik about Pulwama attack on jawans of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

All India Congress Committee (Backward department) president Ajay Kumar Singh, who is a retired Army captain, while raising Malik’s disclosure, claimed that the prime minister should come out with a reply to clear the confusion and also demanded resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for failing to extend security to jawans leading to their ambush by terrorists in Pulwama.

“After 2211 attack on Hotel Taj and other places in Mumbai, Shivraj Patil, the then home minister in the United Progressive Alliance government, had taken morale responsibility and resigned,” Singh said, claiming that the present  National Democratic Alliance government had no shame or concern even for security personnel hence after Pulwama attack and now even after disclosure of Satyapal Malik, neither the prime minister broke his silence, nor Shah resigned taking morale responsibility of the Pulwama attack.

Singh said that when such a terror attack was made on security forces, the prime minister of the country was not informed for over two hours as he was busy shooting a documentary in a jungle.

Capt (Retired) Ajay Singh Yadav, while addressing a press conference here in presence of Congress state president Brijlal Khabri, highlighted the disclosure made by Satyapal Malik on the Pulwama attack.  “The eerie silence of the prime minister despite the revelations by Malik and the questions of former Army Chief General Shankar Roy Chowdhury again raised many unanswered questions,” Singh said while claiming that the reality of fake nationalism projected by Bharatiya Janata Party supporters was now exposed before everyone.

“They never had an answer to issues like corruption, price rise, unemployment and declining economy,” Singh said, and added, “What kind of nationalism is this that the NDA government turned down the request of providing aircraft for the safety of its jawans leading to the terror attack in Pulwama.”

He claimed that according to news reports, at least 11 intelligence inputs were received between January 2, 2019 and February 3, 2019, pointing to suicide missions of Jaish-e-Mohammed. He said intelligence inputs were continuously coming that the convoys of the security forces were soft targets and there could be a terrorist attack on them. “Why was this intelligence ignored?” he asked.
