Accusing Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh of making disproportionate assets and on this basis submitted an affidavit to the Election Commission, Congress party on Tuesday sought his resignation from the government and demanded a high-level inquiry.
Congress party demanded resignation from the government and demanded a high-level inquiry and also said that complaints will also be made in Lokayukta and Income Tax Departments.
In the afternoon, the Minister talking to media persons said that he has ancestral property and it is not a crime if his evaluation increases. Congress is doing dirty politics. “I will give defamation notice to those who have raised allegations,” he added.
State Congress Vice President JP Dhanopia and Right to Information Cell President Puneet Tandon alleged in a press conference that according to the affidavit given by Bhupendra Singh in the Election Commission, disproportionate assets increased from 2008 to 2018. Between 2013 and 2018, wife Saroj Singh received the land through donation and sale deed. If it is appraised, then this property is worth around Rs 15 to Rs 20 crores. There has been an increase of about 33 times in ten years.
Land was purchased in Malathion, Bamora, Chitai village. Took several acres of land as donation in the name of son. Both the leaders said that a high-level inquiry should be conducted into the entire matter. If this is not done, the Congress will go to court along with complaining to the Lokayukta and the Income Tax Department.
Countering the allegations of the Congress, Bhupendra Singh has said that the Congress has made allegations without facts. Full details have been given in the 2018 affidavit. “Till date, I have not received the notice from the Income Tax Department. My father had 1200 acres of land. Hotels and residences have been built on this only. So far Rs 42 crore loan has been taken from various banks. Our land is adjacent to Sagar city. There the collector guideline has increased and when the value of the property increases, the assessment will also increase. Father has donated 25 acres of land for the temple, today its value is Rs 1000 crore,” he added.
He questioned why the Congress is talking about this at the time of elections. If there was any mistake on our part, we would have complained to the Income Tax or other places, but we did not do that. I have not bought any bungalow.
On the personal attack by the Congress, he said that Kamal Nath and Digvijay government were accused of corruption in the past, that is why I am being targeted. Congress is not even getting a candidate in Khurai assembly.
In 1985, our 100 acres of land was acquired by the then Congress government. Then I had told my father that if the son joins the Congress, he will leave the land, but he had said that he will remain in the BJP, do whatever you want to do.
