The Bahujan Samaj Party MLA from Manglaur Assembly constituency in Haridwar, Sarwat Karim Ansari died on Monday. He was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Noida, Uttar Pradesh and was on a ventilator for the last three days. Ansari (66) was suffering from fever and on Friday was hospitalised after his blood oxygen level dipped. Ansari was a two-time MLA from Manglaur. He won from the Manglaur constituency on a BSP ticket in the year 2022 by defeating his nearest rival Qazi Nizamuddin of the Congress in a closely contested election. He had earlier represented the constituency from 2012 to 2017. Large number of people from all walks of life gathered in his residence after hearing the news of his death.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief at the untimely demise of Ansari. He called the son of the deceased MLA on phone to offer condolences.
