Balod on Monday became the first district in Chhattisgarh to get the Collector's office painted with paint made from cow dung.
On Monday, Balod Collector Kuldeep Sharma commenced the painting work of the collectorate with natural paint. He painted on the wall to kickstart the work, an official communication said.
Nodal Officer and Deputy Director Veterinary Services Dr. D K Shivhare said natural paint and distemper are being procured by various departments of the district for painting.
In the first phase, various departments have raised the demand for 25,000 litres of paint from the Barhi unit.
The President of Maa Gauri Self Help Group, Shail Kumari Sinha, said a natural paint unit was inaugurated on January 28 at Adarsh Gauthan Barhi in Balod development block in the district.
Emulsion paint and distemper are made from cow dung at the unit at Barhi.
