A four-year-old boy, who went missing after he went to play outside his house in a village in Maudaha area of Hamirpur on Thursday night, was found murdered on Friday morning.
The police have detained a suspect and are grilling him to find out his involvement in the case. The police registered a case and sent the body for autopsy.
Reports said that 4-year-old Kishore was playing with other children of the locality on Thursday night. Around 10 pm, all other children returned home but when Kishore did not reach his home, his family launched a search and also informed the local police. The cops and the family members kept searching the boy all through the night but on Friday morning, they found his body lying in the river Chandrawal.
The relatives expressed suspicion on 35-year-old truck driver Tauqeer Ahmed alias Babu who lives nearby, and said that the child was seen with him for the last time. The police picked up Tauqeer and grilled him. The police suspect that the boy was sexually assaulted and killed and his body was thrown in the river to conceal the crime.
Superintendent of Police of Hamirpur, Dr Deeksha Sharma, said they were waiting for the post-mortem report before taking further action in the case.
She said the autopsy would be conducted by a panel of doctors.
