Taking stern action against the men in uniform, Superintendent of Police in Mirzapur, Santosh Kumar Mishra, terminated the services of three constables and suspended five other policemen, including a sub-inspector, after a video of their drunken brawl inside Santnagar police station in the district went viral.

The SP warned that indiscipline would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those indulging in such acts.

Reports said that on Sunday some policemen who had gone to eat in the mess, clashed with each other at Sant Nagar police station. The policemen physically assaulted each other using abusive words. The video of this incident was recorded by a constable and later it went viral. After the video of the fight in the police station went viral, the SP directed Lalganj Circle Officer Dikshant Raj to investigate the matter.

After investigation by the CO, the SP also went to the police station and investigated the facts. After the allegations were proved, the SP took disciplinary action against the policemen found guilty. He dismissed constables Namvar Singh Yadav and Dharmendra Singh and sent a letter to Commandant of 32nd Battalion PAC in Lucknow, recommending dismissal of constable Dev Prakash Pandey.

Apart from these, the SP also suspended Sub-Inspector Manoj Upadhyay, constables Upendra Singh, Karan Singh Yadav, Vimlesh Singh, Lakhan Rawat, and Nagendra Kumar Yadav.

The SP claimed that he learnt from the character roll of head constable Namvar Yadav that he had been punished in the districts where he had been posted in the past and was involved in a drunken brawl with other constables.
