In two tragic incidents, three minors, including two girls, drowned in ponds while bathing at Odangi village under the Baleswar Sadar police limits on Friday.
The deceased girls were identified as Tapaswini Das and Tanushree Das.
According to reports, the two had gone to the water body in morning to take bath, during which Tanushree slipped into deep water and drowned. Tapaswini also met the same fate as she tried to rescue Tanushree.
As they didn’t return home, their family members reached the pond and found their clothes on the bank.
Though the duo was fished out of the pond and rushed to the Fakir Mohan Medical College Hospital here, they were declared dead by doctors.
Police registered an unnatural death case into the incident. A pall of gloom descended on the village after the demise of the two girls.
