Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Vineet Kumar Srivastava administered a pledge to the officers and employees of Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway (NER) to work with honesty and transparency. The function was held at the main entrance of the DRM’s Office, Lahartara here on Monday which also marked the inauguration of Vigilance Awareness Week, to be continued till November 5.
Speaking on the occasion, the DRM said, “I believe that corruption is a major obstacle to the economic, political and social development of our country. I believe that to root out corruption, our government, citizens and private sector need to work together. I feel that every citizen should always be alert and committed to maintain high standards of honesty and integrity and cooperate in the fight against corruption.”
Srivastava said that adherence to rules and regulations in letter and spirit is the first requirement of a corruption-free society and corruption can be of both direct and indirect forms.
Describing delay in execution of work as an important cause of corruption, he stressed that unnecessary delay in execution of work should be avoided at all costs and work should be executed by ensuring complete adherence to rules and procedures.
On the occasion, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Infra) Roshan Lal Yadav, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Operation) Rajesh Kumar Singh, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Sameer Paul, Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) Rakesh Ranjan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Sheikh Rehman, Senior Divisional Finance Manager Preeti Verma, Senior Divisional Operations Manager AP Singh, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer Rajat Priya, Divisional Personnel Officer Vivek Mishra, Divisional Commercial Manager Rajesh Kumar Srivastava, Assistant Divisional Commerce Manager Prashant Kumar, Public Relations Officer Ashok Kumar and branch officers took oath to eradicate corruption and build a new India.
