Mauritius PM visits Kashi

After taking part in the G-20 Summit in New Delhi, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth arrived in this holy city on a two-day visit on Monday. He visited Dashashwamedh Ghat, along with his family, where the rituals were performed for the peace of the soul of his late father-in-law. Riding on a big boat carrying pind-daan, the visiting Mauritius Premier immersed the ashes into the sacred water in the midstream of river Ganga in front of Manikarnika Ghat as per the Hindu tradition amidst the chanting of mantras.

Earlier, when Pravind Jugnauth landed at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at Babatpur, he was welcomed by the UP Minister for Labour and Employment Anil Rajbhar on behalf of the state government. Divisional Commissioner (DC) Kaushal Raj Sharma and senior district and police officers were also present.

In view of the visit of Mauritius PM, elaborate security arrangements were made at all the places he was scheduled to visit during the day.

Apart from the police personnel from Varanasi Police Commissionerate, 10 IPS from outside, five ASPs, eight Deputy SPs, five inspectors, 40 men and women sub-inspectors, 200 constables and head constables and three companies of PAC personnel have been deployed at different places.

Tight security arrangements were made at river Ganga, when the Mauritius PM visited there.

Last time, Pravind Jugnauth visited the city to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Day Conference held in January 2019. He also visited Kashi Vishwanath and other temples at that time apart from visiting, along with his country’s delegates, to Prayag to take a holy dip at Sangam, confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati during Kumbh. Mauritius Prime Minister will visit airport on Tuesday morning and then go to Mumbai.
